Find your place in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh, Jeddah and emerging Red Sea destinations offer different urban and coastal lifestyles.

Before you buy

Buy with confidence

Rules for non-Saudi property ownership depend on location and buyer status and may change. Verify current eligibility, title, fees and residency implications with qualified local advisers.

Make eligibility the first stage of your search

Before comparing homes in Saudi Arabia, establish whether your buyer status and the exact location allow the proposed acquisition. The Real Estate General Authority's framework links non-Saudi ownership to defined geographical areas, types of rights and applicable controls. A general statement that foreigners can buy is not enough to establish that a particular transaction is permitted. Ask a qualified local adviser to confirm the current implementing rules, registration requirements and any relevant conditions in writing before reserving a property or committing funds.

Compare neighbourhoods and completed amenities

Riyadh, Jeddah and Red Sea destinations involve different settings and travel patterns. For a city home, test the commute, access to schools or healthcare and the facilities available within the building or community. Check parking, orientation, cooling and outdoor space in relation to how you would use the property. For an emerging development, distinguish facilities already operating from those shown in a master plan. Ask which amenities are contractual commitments, who operates them and what charges or completion conditions apply; visualisations are not evidence that a service is currently available.

Review the transaction and operating costs

Use independent legal advice to examine the seller's rights, registration, purchase agreement and the precise nature of the ownership interest. For an off-plan proposal, investigate developer obligations, stage-payment protections, specifications and remedies for delay. Obtain a complete budget including transaction charges, community fees, cooling, insurance and maintenance. Have advisers explain any restrictions on occupation or letting before adopting an investment plan. Keep immigration, tax and property decisions separate: the ownership interest should not be presented as automatically granting rights or privileges beyond those provided by the applicable law.
